Advancing Health Policy and Nutritional Guidelines
At LBI, we are dedicated not only to do RESEARCHbut also to exerting a broader influence on healthcare policy, nutritional guidelines, and screening programs in the Netherlands based on solid scientific knowledge about ketogenic interventions for brain health. By fostering collaboration between researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders, we aim to drive meaningful change in how healthcare is approached. Our current focus is on the Netherlands, as a tailored approach is needed for each country. However, we are committed to contributing to a broader European and global vision on this matter.
Western societies, including the Netherlands, face escalating health challenges such as obesity, diabetes, and cognitive decline. Despite a growing focus on preventive measures, progress remains sluggish, with inadequate integration of lifestyle interventions into healthcare systems. Moreover, outdated dietary recommendations persist, highlighting the urgency of our work.
Through strategic partnerships, advocacy efforts, and evidence-based recommendations, we endeavor to create a supportive ecosystem that empowers individuals to take proactive steps towards safeguarding their mental and neurological well-being. By supporting innovation and promoting a preventive healthcare mindset, we envision a future where the benefits of ketogenic interventions and other preventive measures are accessible to all. Beyond prevention, there is significant therapeutic potential. That’s why our focus is on lifestyle-brain interaction in health and disease across the lifespan.
